I have been cleaning windows for over 11 years, and not all of the above advice is strictly true, but it would be helpful if you are an absolute beginner. The job is not nearly as scary as the writer implies. You can do the job without applicators and squeegees and achieve the same finish, it will just take a bit longer and require a bit more effort. I, and all other window cleaners I know, use a 12- or 14-inch squeegee on residential properties, depending on the window. 18-inch ones are mostly only for shop windows, etc.
